Family Support
Family Support
At Steps Together Group, we recognise that addiction and mental health difficulties do not exist in isolation. They impact partners, parents, children, and wider family systems in profound and often overwhelming ways.
Our Family Support service is designed not only to support the individual in treatment, but to also care for the people around them who are affected.
Supporting You as a Family Member
If you are here because someone you care about is struggling, you may be feeling a mix of emotions, confusion, worry, frustration, exhaustion, or uncertainty about what to do next.
These feelings are completely valid.
We also recognise that family members often carry their own emotional burden throughout this process, and in many cases need support in their own right.
Our approach ensures that you are not left on the sidelines of recovery.
How We Support Families
We provide structured support to help families understand, cope, and engage more effectively with their loved one’s treatment journey.
This may include:
- Family education and guidance around addiction and mental health
- Structured support sessions with clinicians
- Communication support to improve understanding and boundaries
- Emotional support for coping with stress, worry, and uncertainty
- Involvement in the treatment journey where appropriate and clinically beneficial
We help families move from feeling overwhelmed to feeling informed, supported, and more confident in how to respond.
Intervention & Urgent Family Support
In some situations, a more structured and proactive approach may be needed. If you are concerned that a loved one is unwilling to seek help, or their condition is escalating, we can support you through a guided intervention process.
This may include:
- A confidential consultation to understand your situation
- Clinical guidance on the most appropriate next steps
- Structured intervention planning with our specialist team
- Support in communicating concerns safely and effectively
- Guidance on accessing appropriate treatment pathways (including residential or outpatient care where required)
Our approach is calm, structured, and clinically informed—focused on encouraging engagement with treatment in a safe and supportive way.
Free Aftercare for Families
As part of our commitment to long-term recovery, we provide free aftercare support for both individuals and family members once a programme has been completed.
