Elizabeth House is renowned for being a place to heal the mind. The residents and team refer to it as a Soul Hotel; somewhere you can heal and work with a highly specialist caring team to work through trauma therapy. As it is secondary care, you also get the opportunity to experience rehabilitation in action, not just theory in a classroom. It’s hard to put into word show vital that is so you aren’t leaping out of a medical detox into “the real world.” Elizabeth House provides more than just a safe space to overcome addiction, with the support from staff you get your confidence back in practical matters such as cooking, budgeting, self care and a spiritual level also. Whilst the programme is focused on the 12 steps programme, spirituality and religion is not pushed on anyone. In fact, those with a scientific or agnostic outlook, are welcomed also.
