Therapy Services
Therapy services as unique as you are
Across Steps Together’s range of therapy services, our expert team of Counselling and Addiction Therapists use the very best evidenced based techniques to deliver a diverse structured programme of group therapy, supported by private one-to-one therapy sessions designed to adapt to the unique needs of our clients and their families. We use a variety of methods in our programmes that vary each week according to the needs of our clients.
Meditation & Mindfulness
These techniques help in focusing our attention in the present and control thoughts and reactions. It is about focusing on a single point for example- focusing on the breath, bodily sensations or a phase. Mindfulness meditation involves sitting silently and paying attention to thoughts, sounds, and the sensations of breathing or parts of the body, bringing your attention back whenever the mind starts to wander.
Group Therapy / Group Process
Group therapy involves one or more therapists who will lead a group of clients. Groups will be delivered on a daily basis to enhance the process of change. Our groups are designed to target a specific problem, which includes, substance abuse, depression, trauma and stress disorder. By regularly listening and talking to others it can also help you put your own problems into perspective. Many people experience addiction difficulties, but few speak about them to people they don’t know well.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy investigates how the mind’s cognitive abilities can aid a person’s psychological state who is suffering from automatic, negative thoughts and avoidant behaviours. CBT is more focused on the present, more time-limited, and more problem-solving oriented.
Motivational Interviewing
Motivational interviewing involves helping clients to say why and how they might change. It uses a style to engage with clients, clarify their strengths and aspirations, evoke their own motivations for change, and promote autonomy for decision making.
Psychodynamic Therapy
Psychodynamic therapy focuses on the psychological roots of any emotional suffering you may have. This is done by looking at self-reflection and self-examination. Psychodynamic therapy will bring the unconscious mind into consciousness, helping clients to unravel and understand their true or deep-rooted feelings in order to resolve them.
Transactional Analysis (TA)
TA is a great way to analyse how we relate to one another in our relationships. TA therapy will work directly on problem-solving behaviours, whilst helping clients to develop day-to-day tools. The ultimate goal is to ensure clients regain absolute autonomy over their live. It’s designed to promote personal growth and change.
Music Therapy
Music therapy is being able to use music to express physical, emotional, cognitive, and social needs of a group or individual. Music therapy can be particularly helpful when emotions are too much or confusing to express verbally.
Art Therapy
Art therapy is being able to use art materials and create art to process and explore emotions, which can reduce anxiety, increase self-esteem, and resolve other psychological conflicts.
