Addiction triage assessment & clinical services

A specialist addiction triage is an assessment undertaken by a professional addiction worker, which is usually a specialist GP, a specialist nurse practitioner (non-medical prescriber), or substance misuse practitioner.

This triage assessment is designed to understand more about you and your drug or alcohol use and helps our service (and you) understand the impact this is having on your health, work, behaviours, mental health, relationships and finances.

This assessment will help our team to design a treatment programme with you, which may involve advice, guidance, further specialist clinical treatment, and a specialist counselling and therapy assessment from our expert psychology and counselling team.

Usually taking 45 minutes to 1 hour to complete, addiction triage assessments are followed by a range of clinical treatment options including:

Residential (in-patient) clinical detoxification (drugs or alcohol)

Throughout the UK, Steps Together runs a network of residential (inpatient) detox and rehab facilities that offer a fully regulated, clinical detoxification programme that is monitored and managed by medical professionals 24/7.

Outpatient clinical detoxification service

Steps Together offer two different outpatient clinical detoxification services which include:

  • Alcohol home detox - During a home detox you will be prescribed medication to clinically assist you to withdraw from alcohol, and you will be checked and monitored once a day in your own home by one of our expert clinical team.
  • Ambulatory detox - During this detox, you will be prescribed medication to ensure you clinically and safely withdraw from illicit or prescribed drugs. Ambulatory detox will require you to visit clinic at various times each week, so that our healthcare team can monitor closely your progress.

Relapse prevention prescribing

If you have already achieved your detox, our Private Relapse Prevention treatments may be perfect to help you manage your cravings and prevent you relapsing. Our clinical team will discuss this in detail with you and find the perfect prescribing plan to privately support you and prevent relapse!
