Maintaining Addiction Recovery During COVID-19

During the COVID-19 pandemic, symptoms of anxiety and depressions may worsen during this time. This could be especially difficult for those in addiction recovery and may heighten feelings of stress, worry and anxiety. 

An important thing to remember is that stress is normal at these timesStruggling with difficult or uncomfortable feelings is very much a shared experience at the moment.

How To Avoid Relapse Triggers:

  • Keep to a routine or schedule 
  • Stay connected to your support system either by telephone or video call
  • Try to limit exposure to social media or the news 
  • Maintain a healthy and well-balanced diet
  • Take care of your physical health
  • See if you can learn a new hobby or try a new activity, keep the mind active
  • Have boundaries for yourself, take some tech-free time in the day

Shift Your Focus From Danger to Safety

    • Your therapist
    • Your recovery community
    • Your sponsor
    • A close friend or family member
